Day 1. Cape Town to Cederberg Area Highlights. Cederberg, South Africa.

From cosmopolitan Cape Town with the iconic Table Mountain towering over the city we start our journey with an insightful and interesting tour of one of the local townships. After an intriguing tour, we journey north through the fruit-growing areas of the Western Cape to our camp for the night. Overlooking the Cederberg Mountains and some vineyards this is a perfect setting to possibly try some locally produced wine.

Day 2. Cederberg Region to Orange River Highlights. Orange (Gariep) River, South Africa.

Continuing northwards towards the border with Namibia the scenery becomes more arid and rocky however during spring there is an abundance of wild flowers bringing colour to the landscape.

Our camp for the night is on the Orange River which forms the northern border of South Africa and we have the opportunity to relax on the riverbank or maybe take a hike in the surrounding hills.

Day 3. Orange River to Fish River Canyon Highlights. Fish River Canyon, Namibia.

This morning we have the opportunity to enjoy a canoe safari on the Orange River or relax on the river's edge before making our way across the border to Namibia and the vast Fish River Canyon.

At over 150km long and up to 500m deep it's the second largest in the world and our tour leader will be able to make sure that you hit the spots with the best photos.

Day 4. Fish River Canyon to Sesriem Area Highlights. Namib Naukluft Park, Namibia.

Departing in the morning we drive through picturesque arid landscapes to the vast Namib Naukluft National Park. Home to the world's oldest desert and some of the highest dunes in the world, the Namib Naukluft National Park is larger than Switzerland, second largest game park in Africa and the forth largest park in the world.

Day 5. Sesriem to Solitaire Highlights. Sesriem Canyon, Namibia. Solitaire, Namibia. Sossusvlei, Namibia.

Entering the park this morning first stop is Dune 45 where we attempt the climb up the dune as the rising sun warms the landscape and changes the colour of the beautiful dunes.

After a hearty breakfast we take a shuttle into Dead Vlei and enjoy a guided walk in this eerie desert landscape.

Leaving via the Sesriem Canyon we continue on to Namibia's smallest town, Solitare, our home for the night.

Day 6. Solitaire to Swakopmund Highlights. The Tropic of Capricorn.

From the heat of the desert we cross the Tropic of Capricorn, pausing for the obligatory photo opportunity before heading to the cool of the South Atlantic ocean and the interesting resort town of Swakopmund.

The town has a quirky feel with fantastic cafes and interesting Germanic architecture. It is also an adventure mecca with a wide variety of activities on offer.

Day 7. Swakopmund Highlights. Swakopmund, Namibia.

We have the day in Swakopmund at leisure where we can make the most of the many activities on offer. The team at our hostel will help making all the necessary arrangements to ensure that we get the most out of our time here.

Day 8. Swakopmund to Spitzkoppe Highlights. Spitzkoppe, Namibia.

Heading back inland and northwards our journey takes us to the bizarre rock formations at Spitzkoppe. Our community run camp at the foot of these rock formations makes for the perfect spot to explore the surrounding area.

Day 9. Spitzkoppe to Etosha National Park

Turning on northwards we make our way to Etosha National Park. Dominated by a vast central salt pan the park, with its various water holes provides an ideal environment for animals to survive in this harsh landscape.

Our camp for the evening is based around a floodlit waterhole allowing us the opportunity to watch the animals come in and drink after the hours of darkness.

Day 10. Etosha National Park Highlights. Etosha National Park, Namibia.

We have a full day game driving around this amazing park. With more than 100 animal and 300 bird species in the park we are sure to be rewarded with some excellent sightings.

Day 11. Etosha National Park to Windhoek Highlights. Windhoek, Namibia.

Our final day takes us south towards the capital city Windhoek where we arrive late in the afternoon.

With a strong Germanic influence we might enjoy a final evening in one of the German style restaurants in the city.

Additional Info

PRE TOUR ACCOMMODATION:
This tour departs Cape Town early on day 1; we strongly recommend therefore that you plan to arrive the day before departure to overcome any jet-lag and to acclimatise to Africa. We would be happy to book pre-tour accommodation for you – please call or email us (or speak to your agent) with your arrival details and accommodation requirements. However please book early to avoid disappointment and the risk of having to find more expensive (or less convenient) lodgings.

If time allows, we also suggest planning a night or two extra (after your tour) to make the most of this part of Africa. Accommodation is usually available locally on arrival but you can also pre-book this with Acacia.

ACTIVITIES & EXCURSIONS:
These are optional activities that are booked during your holiday and paid directly to the provider while on tour. These options offer a variety of experiences and allow you the freedom to decide what activities you would like to do.

ACCOMMODATION:
We use 2-person dome tents with fly sheets, sewn-in groundsheets, zip-up insect screens and foam mattresses. We mainly use campsites, which usually have reasonable wash and shower facilities, electricity points and sometimes even a small shop, bar or swimming pool. The facilities on this tour may be more rustic than other destinations.

TRANSPORT:
24-seater, self contained, custom-built safari truck with onboard tables, plug sockets, freezer, water tank, library, i-pod jack, safety features and 70-litre individual lockers.

GAME PARK VISITS:
In order to maximise the quality of game driving and to comply with local authority rulings, some of our National Park visits and game viewing is carried out using services provided by local African ground handlers. As well as enhancing our experience using local guides and smaller vehicles it also allows us to contribute at a ‘grassroots’ level to local economies from which local people benefit.
