Day 1. Windhoek to Etosha National Park Accommodation. Etosha National Park, Namibia.

We leave Namibia's capital and make our way north to Etosha National Park. At over 20,000 sq km, surrounded by a salt pan, Etosha is famous for its well managed water holes that sustain some 114 mammals and 340 bird species.

We have an afternoon game drive upon arrival at Etosha before settling into our accommodation for the evening. The lodge offers a floodlit water hole for an evening game viewing experience.

Day 2. Etosha National Park Highlights. Etosha National Park, Namibia. Accommodation. Etosha National Park, Namibia.

Today, we enjoy a full day in the park exploring the intricate road systems and water holes in search for the numerous grazing antelopes, elephants, lions and giraffes frequently spotted.

We make our way to our accommodation for the evening and enjoy our last night around the lodge's floodlit water hole to observe the nocturnal animals coming in to drink.

Day 3. Etosha National Park to Spitzkoppe Accommodation. Spitzkoppe Community Camp.

Today we game drive out of Etosha National Park, heading south to the beautiful Damaraland region where we explore Spitzkoppe. This magnificent rock formation reaches a peak of 1800m above sea level, and creates breathtaking views especially around sunset and sunrise.The most impressive rock ancient bushman painting 'Bushman Paradise' is found here and you may get to view this on a walk.

Day 4. Spitzkoppe to Swakopmund Accommodation. Amanpuri Lodge, Swakopmund.

This morning we leave Spitzkoppe and make our way to the cooler Atlantic coastal town of Swakopmund. The city itself resembles a small German town with its architectural buildings, palm-lined streets, seaside promenades, restaurants, cafes, art galleries and museums. We spend the next 2 nights in Swakopmund enjoying the various different activities on offer.

Day 5. Swakopmund Highlights. Swakopmund, Namibia.

Today you have a free day to take on some of Swakopmund's activities such as sky diving, sandboarding or quad biking in the desert. If you fancy something different, visit the local beaches, eat at the local restaurants and enjoy the towns vibrant cafe culture.

Day 6. Swakopmund to Sossus On Foot Camp, Khomas Region Highlights. The Tropic of Capricorn. Accommodation. Sossus On Foot Camp, Khomas Region, Namibia.

Leaving the coastal plateau we head inland via picturesque moon landscapes and rugged passes, pausing for a photo stop at the Tropic of Capricorn. Our accommodation for the night is under canvas in a picturesque setting in a quaint desert camp in the Khomas region of central Namibia.

Day 7. Sossus On Foot, Khomas Region to Sesriem Area Highlights. Dune 45, Namib Naukluft National Park, Namibia. Namib Naukluft Park, Namibia. Sossusvlei, Namibia. Accommodation. Little Sossus Lodge, Namib Naukluft .

This morning we leave our camp early and make our way to the Namib Naukluft National Park. Here we trek up Dune 45 for spectacular views over the rolling sunkissed dunes. After a rewarding breakfast, we head deeper into the park and enjoy a short shuttle ride to 'Deadvlei'. This breathtaking white clay pan and dead camel thorn trees are set amidst towing dunes offering majestic photo opportunities.

Day 8. Sesriem Area to Fish River Canyon Highlights. Fish River Canyon, Namibia. Accommodation. Canon Roadhouse, Fish River Canyon.

Today we drive through barren landscapes and rocky mountains dotted with quiver trees to one of Africa's natural wonders, Fish River Canyon . This wondrous canyon is the second largest canyon in the world being 550m deep and 161km long. We enjoy an afternoon walk along the edge admiring its deep ravine and meandering waterways.

Day 9. Fish River Canyon to Orange River, Namibia Highlights. Orange (Gariep) River, Namibia. Accommodation. Felix Unite.

Rising early, we make our way further south through rugged landscapes and rocky outcrops to our base for the evening set in a tranquil setting on the banks of the Gariep (Orange) River. Time here is at leisure to relax on the water's edge, swim or take an optional canoe safari.

Day 10. Orange River to Cederberg Region Highlights. Cederberg, South Africa. Accommodation. Highlanders Camp, Cederberg.

Leaving Namibia behind, we cross the border to South Africa and pass through Namaqualand, known for its prolific display of wildflowers that bloom around August - September and continue south to the Cederberg region of South Africa. At our accommodation, we have the opportunity to taste the wine locally produced in the area or simply relax by the pool's edge with a nice cool beverage and a good book.

Day 11. Cederberg Region to Cape Town Highlights. Cape Town, South Africa.

Today we make our final journey passing through Citrusdal to the Western Cape Province and then Cape Town where our tour ends.

PRE TOUR ACCOMMODATION
This tour starts in Windhoek on day 1. If time allows, we also suggest planning a night or two extra (after your tour) to make the most of this part of Africa. Accommodation is usually available locally on arrival but you can also pre book this with Acacia. There is a variety of activities and excursions in the Cape Town area you can arrange locally or with your Tour Leader.

ACTIVITIES & EXCURSIONS:
These are optional activities that are booked during your holiday and paid directly to the provider while on tour. These options offer a variety of experiences and allow you the freedom to decide what activities you would like to do.

ACCOMMODATION:
Twin share accommodation with facilities (8 nights) twin share tents with sleeping bag, pillow and mattress (2 night) some may be with bar or swimming pool.

TRANSPORT:
24-seater, self contained, custom-built safari truck with onboard tables, plug sockets, freezer, water tank, library, i-pod jack, safety features and 70-litre individual lockers.

GAME PARK VISITS
In order to maximise the quality of game driving and to comply with local authority rulings, some of our National Park visits and game viewing is carried out using services provided by local African ground handlers. As well as enhancing our experience using local guides and smaller vehicles it also allows us to contribute at a ‘grassroots’ level to local economies from which local people benefit.

TOUR STYLE:
This is a participation tour and your help will be needed in assisting with the various day to day duties, such as shopping, cooking and keeping the truck tidy (usually on a rota basis). But don’t worry it’s not all hard work and it’s a great way to meet the local people and get to know your fellow travellers. Your contribution benefits the success of the tour - most people find the greater their involvement, the greater their enjoyment of the whole trip.

Every Overland tour has an Adventure Pass which is paid to your tour leader in Africa at the beginning of the tour (or pre-paid by arrangement prior to your tour).
