This accommodated overland tour will take you from East to Southern Africa experiencing some of the best attractions along the way. From the tropical island of Zanzibar to the thundering Victoria Falls via Lake Malawi and finishing with two of Southern Africa's great game parks - Matobo NP and Kruger.
This awesome adventure is also available in a camping option for those on a tighter budget!
Day 2-3. Stone Town to Kendwa Beach, Zanizibar Highlights. Zanzibar, Northern Beaches, Tanzania.Heading north we leave Stone Town and make our way to northern beaches on the island. Your time is free here so relax on the beach or take on some of the optional activities like scuba diving and snorkelling.
Day 4. Zanzibar to Dar es Salaam Highlights. Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.Bidding our farewell to the beach we make our way back to Stone Town and head back to the mainland and Dar es Salaam where we stay for the evening.
Day 5. Dar es Salaam to Mikumi Highlights. Mikumi National Park, Tanzania.Leaving the coast we make our way inland through Mikumi National Park where we may be lucky enough to see elephant and giraffe along the way. Our accommodation is a stone's throw from the park outside the small village of Mikumi.
Day 6. Mikumi to IringaToday we journey to the town of Iringa and the Kislonza Farmhouse in the Southern Highlands of Tanzania. This working farm has been family run for over 70 years and provides organic meat to the surrounding markets as well as Dar es Salaam.
Day 7. Iringa to Chitimba Beach, MalawiToday we leave Tanzania and cross the Songwe border into Malawi. Lake Malwai covers almost a fifth of the countries area and has the highest of endemic fish species of any lake in the world.
Day 9. Chitimba Beach to Kande BeachWe continue south today we drive to Kande Beach via the northern region's capital Mzuzu. After stocking up on supplies, we continue on back to the lake where we spend the next 2 nights.
Day 10. Kande Beach Highlights. Kande Beach Activities, Malawi.At Kande try out some of the water sports that are on offer to explore the freshwater tropical fish or explore the surrounding countryside on horseback.
Day 11. Kande Beach to ChipataWe leave Lake Malawi today making our way across the border into Zambia and the town of Chipata. The Capital of Zambia's Eastern Province, Chipata has an approximate population of 98,000.
Day 12. Chipata to Lusaka Highlights. Lusaka, Zambia.We leave early and travel the Great Eastern Road crossing the Luangwa River to Lusaka. Lusaka is Southern Africa's fastest growing city with approximately 1.7m currently living in the city.
Day 13. Lusaka to Livingstone Highlights. Victoria Falls - Mosi oa Tunya National Park, Zambia.Leaving Lusaka we make our way south to Livingstone where we visit and experience the spray from Victoria Falls. Our accommodation is on the banks of the Zambezi River only a few kilometres from the falls.
Day 14-16. Livingstone Highlights. Livingstone Activities, Zambia.The next few days are free for you to take part in full or half day optional activities. Some of the activities available are bungee jumping, white water rafting, village walk, sunset cruise, gorge swing, helicopter/microlight ride, fishing and even visit neighbouring Zimbabwe.
Day 17. Livingstone to Bulawayo, ZimbabweWe leave Livingstone today and cross the border into Zimbabwe passing through the town of Victoria Falls to Bulawayo. Our campsite is located in the Matopos Area surrounded by hills and quirky rock formations.
Day 18. Matobo National Park Highlights. Matobo National Park, Zimbabwe.We make the short journey to Matobo National Park today and meet our knowledgeable guides who will lead us on foot around this impressive park. Matobo is home to the largest concentration of black and white rhino in Africa.
Day 19. Bulawayo to Tshipise, South Africa Highlights. Tshipise, South Africa.Today we leave Bulawayo and make our way south to the border of South Africa at the busy Beitridge. We cross South Africa's second largest river the Limpopo and arrive at hour accommodation with natural hot springs and heated pools to enjoy tonight.
Day 20. Tshipise to Hazyview Highlights. Shangaan tribal dancing .Leaving Tshipise we make our way to further South to the Hazyview area and South Africa's premier game reserve, Kruger National Park. The park is home to the 'big 5' as well as 148 mammal and over 505 bird species.
Day 21. Kruger National Park Highlights. Kruger National Park, South Africa.We start the day early boarding our open 4x4 safari vehicles for a full days game drive searching for the many animals to be found in the park.
Day 22. Hazyview to Johannesburg Highlights. Johannesburg City .We leave Hazyview today and make our way to Johannesburg where our tour ends.
An informal and secure thatched resort set on a golden stretch of beach on the south coast of Dar es Salaam and reached by ferry from the city centre. The relaxed restaurant is well-known for its seafood, and has tables set in the sand and hammocks strung up in the palm trees. Rooms – single, twin, double or family share bandas, some en suite, camping. Facilities – restaurant and bar. The Indian Ocean here is ideal for swimming.

PRE TOUR ACCOMMODATION:
This tour departs Dar es Salaam early on day 1; we strongly recommend therefore that you plan to arrive the day before departure to overcome any jet-lag and to acclimatise to Africa. We would be happy to book pre-tour accommodation for you – please call or email us (or speak to your agent) with your arrival details and accommodation requirements. However please book early to avoid disappointment and the risk of having to find more expensive (or less convenient) lodgings.
If time allows, we also suggest planning a night or two extra (after your tour) to make the most of this part of Africa. Accommodation is usually available locally on arrival but you can pre-book this with Acacia or your agent. There is a variety of activities and excursions in the Johannesburg area’s that can be arranged locally.

These are optional activities that are booked during your holiday and paid directly to the provider while on tour. These options offer a variety of experiences and allow you the freedom to decide what activities you would like to do.

In order to maximise the quality of game driving and to comply with local authority rulings, some of our National Park visits and game viewing is carried out using services provided by local African ground handlers. As well as enhancing our experience using local guides and smaller vehicles it also allows us to contribute at a ‘grassroots’ level to local economies from which local people benefit.
