South African Braai (BBQ)with Mielie Pap!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Whats cooking on route?\u00a0 A true Africa\u00a0\u00a0adventure is\u00a0 not completed without indulging in some of its delicious cuisines. One of the delightful things about African food is it is simple, tasty\u00a0and it has been\u00a0combined with many flavors from many nations around the world. This week we have received a recipe for a\u00a0 traditional South African Braai cooked by the crew of Acacia. Check out the recipe below:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Braai , Mielie Pap , Salad and Garlic bread<\/span><\/p>\n<p>48 chops<\/p>\n<p>4 x Boerewors<\/p>\n<p>2 kg Mielie meal<\/p>\n<p>4 x tins of mild chakalaka (or braai relish)<\/p>\n<p>2 loafs of bread<\/p>\n<p>3 tins of corn kernels<\/p>\n<p>12 cups of water,<\/p>\n<p>4 teaspoons salt<\/p>\n<p>To make <b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Mielie Pap<\/span><\/b> \u2013 Boil water. Add salt and maize meal and stir. Reduce heat and cover with lid for 10 minutes. Whisk and cover again for 30 minutes. Add sweet corn and set aside.<\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Braai<\/span><\/b> meat on cooking grid<\/p>\n<p>In a sauce pan heat the <b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">braai relish<\/span><\/b>. This served with the mielie pap<\/p>\n<p>Cut the sliced <b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">bread<\/span><\/b> in half and butter each side with garlic butter. Wrap In tin foil and bake on light coals.<\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Vegetarian option<\/span><\/b>: Vegetable fritters \u2013 \u00bd cup flour, \u00bd tspn salt, \u00bd tspn curry powder \u00bd tspn baking powder, \u00bd cup milk, 1 cup grated mixed vegetables of choice. 1 egg white. Place all dry ingredients in a bowl. Add milk to make a batter. Add all vegetables. In a separate cup beat the egg white. Fold with batter.
