{"id":3304,"date":"2015-03-31T08:00:50","date_gmt":"2015-03-31T06:00:50","guid":{"rendered":"\/blog\/?p=3304"},"modified":"2015-03-31T08:00:50","modified_gmt":"2015-03-31T06:00:50","slug":"two-oceans-marathon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/acacia-africa.com\/blog\/2015\/03\/31\/two-oceans-marathon\/","title":{"rendered":"Two Oceans Marathon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon takes place this Easter Saturday, 4<sup>th<\/sup> April 2015 in Cape Town, and is known globally as &#8220;the world&#8217;s most beautiful and scenic marathon&#8221;. It&#8217;s also one of the toughest, with the route taking runners over the steep Chapman&#8217;s Peak and Constantia Nek.<\/p>\n<p>The two main events are the Ultra Marathon, 56 km (35 miles) and the popular Half Marathon, 21 km (13 miles). Inaugurated in 1970, this competition had a mere 26 runners lining up to face the unknown challenge. Fast forward 45 years, the race now hosts up to 11,000 runners on the Main Ultra Marathon and 16,000 on the Half Marathon.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"\/blog\/?attachment_id=3305\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3305\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3305\" alt=\"10178046_10153999089175357_4973919410150032400_n\" src=\"https:\/\/acacia-africa.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/10178046_10153999089175357_4973919410150032400_n.jpg\" width=\"460\" height=\"410\" \/><\/a><b>Ultra Marathon<\/b><\/p>\n<p>This magnificent marathon kicks off at 06:30am on the Main Road of Newlands and continues to Muizenburg and Fish Hoek, over breath-taking Chapmans Peak Drive, through Hout Bay and over Constantia Neck before heading to the finishing line at the University of Cape Town.
