President Obama also visited in July and even the Pope has a date penciled in.<\/p>\n<p>A summer filled with positive news, in June the FCO advisory for Mombasa and the majority of the country\u2019s coastal areas was removed, putting Kenya back in the top three on our \u201cbest African countries to visit\u201d list.<\/p>\n<p>Kenya has also launched a new website dedicated to the <a title=\"Kenya E-Visa website\" href=\"www.evisa.go.ke\" target=\"_blank\">E-Visa<\/a> which came into effect on the 1st September. In fact, the Nairobi National Park is the only wildlife park on the continent where your vistas might include big cats, rhinos and skyscrapers! Wildlife on tap, the park is home to lions, cheetahs, leopards, rhino, buffaloes, hippos, zebras, giraffes and more. At midday you can also watch orphaned baby elephants take their daily mud bath, the David Sheldrick Foundation located with the park\u2019s boundaries.<\/p>\n<p>Make a lunch date with a giraffe at the Giraffe Manor Hotel based on the western side of Nairobi. After a bite to eat, take a short walk to the AFEW (African Fund For Endangered Wildlife) Giraffe Centre which was established in order to protect the endangered Rothschild Giraffe.\u00a0 Hand out a food pellet or two and go for the perfect photo opp, a giraffe kiss!<\/p>\n<p>Venture out to the Maasai Market, the biggest open air market for locally made jewelry, shoes, artwork and clothing. The market is mobile and runs in different locations every day. This is a great opportunity to practice your Kiswahili and any treasured finds will always leave you with fond memories of Africa.<\/p>\n<p>If we\u2019re travelling through Nairobi, we always try and make a night of it at the Carnivore restaurant. There is no better place to expand your culinary horizons &#8211; crocodile and ostrich on the menu. A genuine taster of Kenya, Nyama Choma, meaning &#8220;barbecued meat\u201d is the country\u2019s unofficial dish.<\/p>\n<p>The farm once owned by Danish author, Karen Van Blixen is now a museum, the 1985 blockbuster \u201cOut of Africa\u201d filmed in its grounds.\u00a0 Take an intimate tour of the house which contains many of the orginal furnishings and spy dramatic vistas over the Ngong Hills.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s nothing like travelling across Nairobi the way the locals do.
