Shop Around<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Travel to East and Southern Africa has been growing year on year so make sure you shop around. Most of our tours start in one city and end in another. Have a look at \u2018Open-Jaw\u2019 tickets which allow you, generally with the same airline, fly into one city and out from another. If you can\u2019t find the flights you want, consider doing the tour in the opposite direction.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Book Separate Flights \u2013 Eastern Africa<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To get the best value you will probably have to fly via somewhere to get from your home airport to the start point of your tour. For example if you are coming from Sydney and doing a tour from Nairobi to Dar es Salaam, first check which airlines service all three cities then see what fares that they offer. You will probably come up with the option of Emirates via Dubai or South African Airlines via Johannesburg. Remember if you are booking flights that connect through another city, make sure you book them on one ticket, that way if there is a delay, the airline are obliged to help you. If you make the reservation under separate bookings the airline won\u2019t help if there is a delay on a connecting flight.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Book a Round-The-World ticket<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you are considering a longer trip, then why not incorporate Africa into your Round The World trip. There are hundreds of different options you can consider. Round the world tickets are very flexible and offer fantastic value for money. Basically you need to start and finish in the same point, keep going in the same (general) direction and keep within either a specific mileage, or a specific number of stops, or both! Time Your Trip<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Air fares are generally all dependent on the date you take your first flight so if you want to be away at peak time, try and depart before fares go up. EG. If you are travelling at Christmas, try to fly before 15 December and if you are travelling over the peak summer season, check when schools finish as flights are always busier, and more expensive then. Where possible\u2026 BOOK EARLY!<\/p>\n<p><strong>5: Book your flight around your tour<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We often get asked if we have a tour departing on a specific date, why, because flights have already been booked. This is not the best way to do it, flights operate, in many cases, on a daily basis, whereas our tours depart either weekly or bi-weekly so check out your tour first, have a chat to us and we can provisionally hold it for 7 days while you get your flights sorted, then you can confirm your tour.<\/p>\n<p>Check out this chart to show the which airlines fly into which cities.
