The Orange River, South Africa's longest river rises in the Drakensberg mountains in Lesotho, flowing westwards for some 2200km to where it finally flows into the Atlantic Ocean at Alexander Bay. Although it passes through no major cities, it plays a major role in the South African economy by providing irrigation to the vital farmland.
