Day Day 1. Nairobi to Arusha Highlights. Maasai Culture Village Walk, Arusha, Tanzania. Accommodation. Meserani Snake Park.

Our adventure tour begins with a journey to the border of Tanzania. Completing border formalities, we continue to Arusha, located midway between Cairo and Cape Town.

After a visit to the town’s markets, we continue to our camp. If time allows this afternoon, we visit a local Maasai village and museum to gain insight into their traditional ways of living.

Day Day 2. Arusha to Serengeti National Park Highlights. Serengeti National Park, Tanzania. Accommodation. Serengeti Camp.

Packed and ready we switch onto 4x4 game viewing vehicles to visit the Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater – A National Geographic wonderland. Our professional guides will give us a deep insight into this amazing region.

Entering at the Ngorongoro Conservatory, we stop for lunch on the rim of the crater to take in the sweeping vistas before proceeding on an afternoon game drive through the Serengeti. Keep your eyes peeled for the resident wildlife along the way.

Day Day 3. Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater Highlights. Serengeti National Park, Tanzania. Accommodation. Simba Camp, Ngorongoro Crater.

An early morning greets us as we hear the grunts of the wilderness as we wake. Boarding our 4x4 safari vehicles we head out to explore the rocky outcrops, wide-open vistas and vast lands in search for the resident wildlife and the predators that are active in the early mornings.

We return to our camp, pack up and game drive across the great Serengeti Plains. We ascend the crater wall to our camp nestled alongside the Crater Rim.

Day Day 4. Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha Highlights. Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania. Accommodation. Meserani Snake Park.

Rising early, we traverse the steep slopes of the largest inactive and intact volcanic caldera in the world for a rewarding game drive. All wildlife is resident here except for the Giraffe – those longs legs can’t take on the steep slopes.

After our game drive, we return to our camp for lunch and make our way back to Arusha. If time allows, view the reptile park adjacent to the camp – home to the most unique reptiles and birdlife.

Day Day 5. Arusha to Bagamoyo Highlights. Bagamoyo, Tanzania. Accommodation. Firefly Camp.

After an amazing few days game driving, it’s time to soak our bones in the warm tropical Indian Ocean. En-route we pass a small town of Moshi and with a little luck and clear weather, we may get to see the snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro - the highest freestanding mountain in the world.

Our first night on the coast is at Bagamoyo - once a trading port to Tanzania and a base for some of the great explorers before they headed off into the African wilderness. Our camp for the night is situated a stone's throw from the ocean in this historical town.

Day Day 6. Bagamoyo to Dar es Salaam Highlights. Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Accommodation. Kipepeo Beach Village, Dar es Salaam.

Following the coast stretch south, we make our way to Dar es Salaam – Tanzania’s main port city and the gateway to the Zanzibar Archipelago.

Our evening is spent at this beach resort outside the city centre. Here we enjoy the ocean breeze, swaying palm trees and powdery white sandy beaches.

Day Day 7. Dar es Salaam to Stone Town, Zanzibar Highlights. Stone Town, Zanzibar, Tanzania. Accommodation. All Seasons Hotel, Zanzibar.

With our smaller packs ready, we transfer to the ferry terminal for our 3 night, 4-day excursion to Zanzibar.

Our first stop is Stone Town, a historic trade centre. With its windy cobbled roads, ornate houses and unique architecture, this city is a great place to explore. Take a night stroll to visit the markets or dine in at a local restaurant.

Day Day 8. Zanzibar Highlights. Zanzibar, Northern Beaches, Tanzania. Accommodation. Sunset Bungalows Kendwa.

Today, we are off to the northern beaches for some relaxation time. Along the way visit the slave-trading markets and embark on a spice tour to sample the cultures rich spice and fruit trade.

Our accommodation is set in a tranquil setting along the northeast of the island. With its long stretches of powdery beaches, turquoise waters you’ll be sure to enjoy your stay here.

Day Day 9. Zanzibar Highlights. Zanzibar, Northern Beaches, Tanzania. Accommodation. Sunset Bungalows Kendwa.

Waking to the lapping waves hitting the sandy banks, today is a day at your leisure. Explore the neighbouring restaurants and bars that dot the coastal edge or opt for an optional activity – scuba diving or dhow safaris.

Day Day 10. Zanzibar to Dar es Salaam

Relaxed and revitalised, it’s time to leave the northern beaches and retrace our footsteps back to Stone Town. Here we have time to do some last-minute shopping at the markets before waving ‘goodbye’ to Zanzibar.

Back on the mainland, our tour will end on arrival at our beach camp, just outside the city centre in the mid-afternoon.
