Day 1. Nairobi to Arusha Highlights. Meserani Snake Park, Tanzania.

We leave the busy city of Nairobi behind and head for the open road to the border of Tanzania. Once we've completed formalities, we head on to Arusha - the Safari Capital of Tanzania.

Meserani has an informative snake park and Maasai Cultural Museum on-site and we visit these in the afternoon after setting up camp.

Day 2. Arusha to Serengeti National Park Highlights. Serengeti National Park, Tanzania.

This morning we meet our local guides and board our 4x4 safari vehicles for our 2 night and 3-day excursion.

Passing through the Mto Wa Mbo and up the Rift Valley escarpment, we enter the Ngorongoro Conservation area and make our way around the rim of this steep crater pausing for photo opportunities.

It's time to start our game drive to our camp deep into the Serengeti after descending the crater walls. Here we enjoy an evening under the African stars whilst listening to the wilderness unfold.

Day 3. Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro Crater

Rising early we board our open 4x4 safari vehicle for a rewarding morning game drive in the Serengeti in search for the 'Big 5' - lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo.

After lunch, we cross the flat treeless plains dotting with wildebeest and other hoofed animals to the steep incline of the Ngorongoro Crater. Our camp is right on the edge of the crater itself offering magical views.

Day 4. Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha Highlights. Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania.

Another early morning awaits as we descend the steep, winding road into the crater.

Look out for the herds of elephants, buffalo and other hoofed animals, hyena and predators that reside inside this intact caldera - the largest in the world!

We head back to our camp in time for lunch and then it's back to our Acacia vehicle at Arusha where we enjoy an evening at the camp.

Day 5. Arusha to Bagamoyo Highlights. Bagamoyo, Tanzania.

Today, we head south via Kilimanjaro - the world's highest freestanding mountain. With a bit of luck, you may get to see the peak from above the clouds.

We reach the azure waters of the Indian Ocean coastline of Bagamoyo and set up camp in this tropical haven and historical port town.

Day 6. Bagamoyo to Dar es Salaam Highlights. Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Today we are off to Dar es Salaam - a large city with a thriving port which processes the bulk of Tanzania's imports and exports.

We arrive at our camp on the beaches south of the city and have an afternoon to enjoy the surroundings, take a stroll and enjoy this palm-fringed haven.

Day 7. Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar Highlights. Stone Town, Zanzibar, Tanzania.

Ready and packed, we take the fast ferry across to Zanzibar's bustling port of Stone Town. After formalities, we settle into our accommodation and have the afternoon to explore this unique city with its maze-like alley streets, historical monuments and local eateries.

Day 8. Zanzibar Highlights. Zanzibar, Northern Beaches, Tanzania.

After breakfast, we transfer up the island and possibly stop off for a slave and spice tour along the way to learn about the varied history, local fruits of this exotic paradise.

We have two nights relaxing on the idyllic northern beaches with the opportunity to chill out or enjoy the many optional activities including scuba diving and dhow safaris.

Day 9. Zanzibar Highlights. Zanzibar, Northern Beaches, Tanzania.

Today is a day at your leisure to explore the northern beaches. Soak up the beauty of these beaches, sip a cocktail or sample the local cuisine of the many restaurants that dot the coastal edge.

Nearby is a village of Nungwi where they build the traditional dhow sailing boats. Meander through the lively markets and view the craftsman at work. This area is famous for it's a vibrant atmosphere, local bars and cove beaches.

Day 10. Zanzibar to Da es Salaam

Waving 'goodbye' to the sun-kissed beaches, we make our way back to Stone Town for some last-minute shopping before taking the ferry back to the mainland.

Our tour will end at the arrival of our accommodation just outside of the bustling city itself.
