Day 1. Nairobi to Maasai Mara Highlights. Great Rift Valley.

Meeting our group we board the local safari vehicles and head out of busy Nairobi on the start of our adventure. We stop off at the Rift Valley viewpoint to learn about how the African continent is splitting and then descend across the valley to Narok and the Maasai Mara.

The Maasai Mara is home to all of Africa's 'Big 5' and a number of other species including gazelle and zebra.

Day 2. Maasai Mara National Reserve Highlights. Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya.

Experience the Mara’s amazing grasslands, extensive horizons and abundance of wildlife in small specialised safari vehicles. The annual migration of the wildebeest and zebra (from July to October) is a sight not to be missed, however, do not be disheartened when travelling during other months of the year, as there are plenty resident herds and predators we are likely to spot and enjoy.

Day 3. Maasai Mara to Nairobi

We make our way back across the open wildlife buffer zone and up the Rift Valley escarpment to Nairobi where we will spend the night.

Day 4. Nairobi to Arusha, Tanzania Highlights. Maasai Culture Village Walk, Arusha, Tanzania. Meserani Snake Park, Tanzania.

Crossing the border to neighbouring Tanzania, we head to the safari capital Arusha and then on to our camp at Meserani.

Enjoy a locally guided walk to a Masai Village. At the Maasai Museum, gain some first-hand knowledge of these interesting people, their culture and history. There is also the reptile park to explore and learn about the snakes & reptiles found here.

Day 5. Arusha to the Serengeti National Park Highlights. Serengeti National Park, Tanzania.

With Mount Meru at our backs, we journey across the Tanzanian countryside to the Serengeti National Park. A Unesco World Heritage Site and home to a myriad of fragile wildlife habitats and ecosystems, the Serengeti draws many visitors year-on-year to witness its abundant wildlife and the migration of the herds.

We spend the night in an un-fenced camp in the Serengeti where lion and hyena may roam nearby.

Day 6. Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

Rising with the sun, we head out again to explore the surrounds and seek out the animals we've not yet had the chance to see.

After packing up, we head on to the Ngorongoro Crater rim where we will spend the night.

Experience spectacular views from the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater at 2400 metres above sea level.

Day 7. Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha Highlights. Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania.

The early bird catches the worm, and we're up early again to get the most out of our game viewing in the Crater this morning. After breakfast, we head down the steep walls and into the open caldera to explore!

After our wildlife encounters, we head back to camp and then to Arusha where our Acacia vehicle welcomes us back at camp.

Day 8. Arusha to Bagamoyo Highlights. Bagamoyo, Tanzania.

This morning's journey takes us by the base of the great Kilimanjaro and as we make our way into the distance, we hope to catch a glimpse of the peak later today. We head for the coast and the historic town of Bagamoyo.

Late in the 19th century Bagamoyo was one of the most important trading ports of the east central coast of Africa, trading mainly in slaves and ivory. Visit with the locals and learn more about the town's history.

Day 9. Bagamoyo to Dar es Salaam Highlights. Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Dar Es Salaam - with its mix of African, Muslim, Persian and Asian influences, beaches, chaotic markets and historical buildings - has become one of East Africa’s most important ports and trading centres. A definite 'must see' before heading to Zanzibar.

We spend the night at our camp on the beach with the warm Indian Ocean lapping the shore.

Day 10. Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar Highlights. Stone Town, Zanzibar, Tanzania. Zanzibar, Tanzania.

We cross from Dar es Salaam to Stone Town on Zanzibar island - using the fast ferry service and continue to our lodge in the city.

From here it's easy to explore Zanzibar's Capital with its winding walkways, interesting architecture and varied shops and markets. Enjoy a fresh fruity cocktail and delicious seafood delicacies during your stay - you won't get it any fresher elsewhere!

Day 11-12. Zanzibar Highlights. Zanzibar, Northern Beaches, Tanzania.

Time on Zanzibar is spent at leisure to allow everyone to explore their own interests on their own time. The group generally spends one night in Stone Town, and then heads up to the beaches in the north of the Island where activities such as scuba diving, snorkelling and boat trips are available.

Enjoy a couple of days relaxing on the pretty beaches, swim in the warm Indian Ocean, or explore the colourful reefs and under water world here.

Day 13. Zanzibar to Dar es Salaam

Shop for some last minute souvenir shopping or a final swim this morning, before heading back to Tanzania’s main port city, Dar Es Salaam, where our tour draws to a close.
