Day 1. Nairobi to Maasai Mara Highlights. Great Rift Valley.
Meeting our group we board the local safari vehicles and head out of busy Nairobi on the start of our adventure. We stop off at the Rift Valley viewpoint to learn about how the African continent is splitting and then descend across the valley to Narok and the Maasai Mara.Day 2. Maasai Mara National Reserve Highlights. Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya.
Experience the Mara’s amazing grasslands, extensive horizons and abundance of wildlife in small specialised safari vehicles. The annual migration of the wildebeest and zebra (from July to October) is a sight not to be missed, however, do not be disheartened when travelling during other months of the year, as there are plenty resident herds and predators we are likely to spot and enjoy.Day 3. Maasai Mara to Nairobi
We make our way back across the open wildlife buffer zone and up the Rift Valley escarpment to Nairobi where we will spend the night.Day 4. Nairobi to Arusha, Tanzania Highlights. Maasai Culture Village Walk, Arusha, Tanzania. Meserani Snake Park, Tanzania.
Crossing the border to neighbouring Tanzania, we head to the safari capital Arusha and then on to our camp at Meserani.Day 5. Arusha to the Serengeti National Park Highlights. Serengeti National Park, Tanzania.
With Mount Meru at our backs, we journey across the Tanzanian countryside to the Serengeti National Park. A Unesco World Heritage Site and home to a myriad of fragile wildlife habitats and ecosystems, the Serengeti draws many visitors year-on-year to witness its abundant wildlife and the migration of the herds.Day 6. Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater
Rising with the sun, we head out again to explore the surrounds and seek out the animals we've not yet had the chance to see.Day 7. Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha Highlights. Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania.
The early bird catches the worm, and we're up early again to get the most out of our game viewing in the Crater this morning. After breakfast, we head down the steep walls and into the open caldera to explore!Day 8. Arusha to Bagamoyo Highlights. Bagamoyo, Tanzania.
This morning's journey takes us by the base of the great Kilimanjaro and as we make our way into the distance, we hope to catch a glimpse of the peak later today. We head for the coast and the historic town of Bagamoyo.Day 9. Bagamoyo to Dar es Salaam Highlights. Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Dar Es Salaam - with its mix of African, Muslim, Persian and Asian influences, beaches, chaotic markets and historical buildings - has become one of East Africa’s most important ports and trading centres. A definite 'must see' before heading to Zanzibar.Day 10. Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar Highlights. Stone Town, Zanzibar, Tanzania. Zanzibar, Tanzania.
We cross from Dar es Salaam to Stone Town on Zanzibar island - using the fast ferry service and continue to our lodge in the city.Day 11-12. Zanzibar Highlights. Zanzibar, Northern Beaches, Tanzania.
Time on Zanzibar is spent at leisure to allow everyone to explore their own interests on their own time. The group generally spends one night in Stone Town, and then heads up to the beaches in the north of the Island where activities such as scuba diving, snorkelling and boat trips are available.Day 13. Zanzibar to Dar es Salaam
Shop for some last minute souvenir shopping or a final swim this morning, before heading back to Tanzania’s main port city, Dar Es Salaam, where our tour draws to a close.Conveniently located on Nairobi's Harry Thuku Road and set in manicured gardens, this hotel offers a peaceful oasis in the centre of town. An informal and secure thatched resort set on a golden stretch of beach on the south coast of Dar es Salaam and reached by ferry from the city centre. The relaxed restaurant is well-known for its seafood, and has tables set in the sand and hammocks strung up in the palm trees. Rooms – single, twin, double or family share bandas, some en suite, camping. Facilities – restaurant and bar. The Indian Ocean here is ideal for swimming.
