Day 1. Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar Island, Stone Town Highlights. Stone Town, Zanzibar, Tanzania.

It's an early start on the first day of this adventure tour as we make our way to the ferry terminal to catch the ferry across to Zanzibar. Zanzibar conjures up images of the exotic and the first stop is the capital, Stone Town. Here we can explore the winding passage ways of the bazaars and markets on foot, ending the day with a delicious cocktail and views of the sunset over the ocean.

Day 2-3. Zanzibar Island, Nungwi Highlights. Zanzibar, Northern Beaches, Tanzania.

Today we are off to the Northern Beaches of Zanzibar with time to relax and kick back. Nungwi has beautiful palm fringed beaches and some epic diving spots for scuba divers and snorkelers to explore. Enjoy the time to do as much or as little as you like.

Make sure that you chat to your tour leader about some of the fantastic optional activities that are on offer in the area.

Day 4. Zanzibar Island, Nungwi to Dar es Salaam Highlights. Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Winding our way back down towards Stone Town today, there is time for a last swim or to grab a deal on souvenirs in the market before jumping back on the ferry to the mainland.

Once back in Dar es Salaam, it's only a short transfer back to our camp on the beach.

Day 5. Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park Area Highlights. Mikumi National Park, Tanzania.

We set off early in our Acacia vehicle this morning to make our way through the city traffic and onwards heading west across the Tanzanian landscape. As we settle into the rhythm of a day, we pass various villages and towns before driving through Mikumi National Park. We should be lucky enough to spot some elephant or giraffe grazing along the roadside.

Our camp for the night is just a short distance out of the national park itself.

Day 6. Mikumi National Park Area to Iringa

Onwards and upwards we head to the highlands via the picturesque Baobab Valley! Our destination today is a working farm in the Southern Highlands of Tanzania. Kisolanza is blessed with a pleasant climate which results in some fantastic produce. Don't forget to indulge in their famous chocolate brownies!

Day 7. Iringa to Mbeya Region

Heading towards Malawi we make a stop at the tranquil Utengule Coffee Lodge nestled amidst the majestic Mbeya range in Southern Tanzania.

Enjoy breathtaking views of the East African Rift Valley, relax by the poolside or enjoy the various activities like squash, tennis, pool, table tennis, or volleyball.

For those interested in coffee, an optional guided tour through the coffee plantation is available, including a roasting demonstration and a cup of home-grown coffee.

Day 8. Mbeya Region to Chitimba (Lake Malawi), Malawi Highlights. Lake Malawi, Malawi.

After our last night in Tanzania, we head to the Songwe border post into Malawi. Lake Malawi formerly ‘Lake Nyasa’ covers almost a fifth of the country’s area and provides the source of livelihood for many of the Malawi people. Fishermen, fish traders, canoe and net makers all ply their trade, and a common sight is that of a fisherman in his Bwato, (dugout canoe made from hollowed out tree trunk) fishing on the lake at the break of day. The lake also has the highest number of endemic freshwater fish species of any in the world.

Relax on the beach, take a leisurely village walk, visit the local craft market where you can enjoy learning the ins and outs of woodcarving your own souvenir, learn to play the game of Bao or haggle for some souvenirs.

Day 9. Chitimba to Nkhotakota Region (Lake Malawi)

Today we take a nice scenic drive through rubber plantations to Mzuzu - the capital of the northern region and the third largest town in Malawi - where we stop for a short while to grab supplies and check out the markets, before arriving to Ngala Beach Lodge.

Day 10. Nkhotakota Region (Lake Malawi) Highlights. Lake Malawi, Malawi.

Today you’ll have some free time to try some of the optional activities, such as hiring a kayak, snorkelling, village walk, waterfall hike, or simply relax and enjoy the warm, fresh waters of Lake Malawi.

Day 11. Nkhotakota Region (Lake Malawi) to Petauke, Zambia

Saying our goodbye’s to ‘the Lake’, we drive through Nkhotakhota Game Reserve towards the border where we cross into Zambia. After completing the border formalities, we continue our journey to Petauke, a region known for agriculture, producing maize, cotton, sunflower, soya beans, and other crops.

Day 12. Petauke to Lusaka Highlights. Lusaka, Zambia.

Heading West on the Great Eastern road our journey takes us to Zambia's capital, Lusaka. Southern Africa's fastest growing city, Lusaka, is a real hub with transport links heading North, South, East and West.

Our camp for the night is just outside Lusaka on a tranquil farm.

Day 13. Lusaka to Livingstone Highlights. Victoria Falls - Mosi oa Tunya National Park, Zambia.

Our journey takes us through villages to our destination Livingstone. Our campsite is on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River just upstream from the famous Victoria Falls. This will be our home for the next four nights and offers the perfect base to explore Livingstone, the Victoria Falls and the surrounding area.

Day 14-16. Livingstone Highlights. Livingstone Activities, Zambia.

Livingstone, located on the Zambian side of the Zambezi River and the mighty Victoria Falls is arguably the adventure capital of Southern Africa.

Three of the days spent here are free days so each person can make the most of what is on offer, according to their preferences. From adrenaline activities to more sedate experiences, all are available so everyone should have plenty to keep themselves busy making memories. When not enjoying time out exploring, the camp is home to 2 swimming pools and a restaurant to ensure you can relax and enjoy your free time.

Day 17. Livingstone to Matobo, Zimbabwe

Another day, another country! Crossing the Victoria Falls bridge this morning we enter Zimbabwe and continue south to Bulawayo, a pretty colonial city with wide tree-lined avenues. We stop in Bulawayo for supplies before heading to our campsite.

Day 18. Matobo National Park Highlights. Matobo National Park, Zimbabwe.

The Matobo hills have strong cultural and spiritual significance to the indigenous people and many Bushman paintings can be found in the area. Not only is there a vast amount of cultural interests, but the park is also home to amazing concentrations of wild animals including large populations of both Black and White Rhino.

We are lucky enough to enjoy a wilderness walk and a nature drive in the Matobo National Park today.

Day 19. Matobo to Tshipise, South Africa Highlights. Tshipise, South Africa.

We make our final border crossing today into South Africa- the last country we visit on our adventure tour. Entering at Beitbridge, we cross the Limpopo River just a few hours south of Bulawayo.

Border formalities can be time consuming but once completed we continue to our home for the night, a comfortable campsite at Tshipise, home to one of the hot springs in the area. Enjoy a nighttime swim in the heated pools under a starry sky.

Day 20. Tshipise to Hazyview (Greater Kruger) Highlights. Shangaan Cultural Evening.

Our destination today is on the outskirts of one of the world's most famous national parks, Kruger. Our route takes us southbound through the farming towns of northern province and along the western edge of the park and the scenery en route varies in this very fertile region of South Africa.

Our camp is in Hazyview, just a short distance from the Kruger National Park where we prepare for a full day game driving tomorrow.

Day 21. Kruger National Park Highlights. Kruger National Park, South Africa.

To make most of our full day Kruger safari game drive, we're up before sunrise to arrive at the park gate when it opens at dawn. Using professional, local guides in open 4x4 vehicles, we benefit from a wealth of knowledge gained from them being in the park day in, day out. We break for lunch at one of the comfortable rest camps in the park before continuing our Kruger safari into the late afternoon.

We leave the park with a long list of animal sightings having hopefully ticked off the Big Five with unforgettable memories to take back home.

Day 22. Hazyview (Greater Kruger) to Pretoria

The final day of our safari tour in Africa takes us from the lowveld and up into the highveld and the beating heart of South Africa city 'Pretoria'. This is where our journey must come to an end late in the afternoon on arrival in the city.
