Day 1. Cape Town –Mossel Bay Highlights. Hermanus, South Africa.

On our first day, we travel the scenic coastal route via Gordon’s Bay to Hermanus, well-known as the best land-based whale watching spot of the Overberg. Humpback and Southern Right Whales frequent the coastline seasonally during the calving season and makes for spectacular ‘breach’ viewing and photo opportunities. From here, we continue to Mossel Bay, traditionally considered the start of the famed Garden Route, where we visit the Post Office Tree - site of the first landfall made by the Portuguese explorer Bartholomew Dias in 1488.

Day 2. Mossel Bay - Oudtshoorn Highlights. Cango Caves, South Africa. Oudtshoorn, Ostrich Farm, South Africa.

Today, we travel via the picturesque Outeniqua Mountains (named after the Outeniqua Khoikhoi who used to live in the area) to the semi-desert region of the Klein Karoo and Oudtshoorn, also called the ‘Feather Capital’ of the world, after the Ostrich industry boom during the 1800s. Here we will embark on a guided tour of the Cango Caves - a dripstone caverns system with vast halls of towering Stalactite & Stalagmite formations. We also visit a working Ostrich farm, to view and learn about these magnificent birds.

Day 3. Oudtshoorn - Knysna Highlights. Garden Route, South Africa.

This morning, we visit the Cango Wildlife Ranch before we continue with our journey over the Outeniqua Mountains via George and the lush forests of the Wilderness National Park. We stop at the Knysna Lagoon, admiring the ‘Heads’ – the two promontories guarding the opening of the lagoon to the ocean - before continuing into Knysna town. The rest of the day at leisure to explore this picturesque Garden Route town well-known for its locally made art and craftwork.

Day 4. Knysna - Port Elizabeth Highlights. Birds Of Eden. Monkeyland. Tsitsikamma National Park, South Africa.

Travelling via Plettenberg Bay, to The Birds of Eden, we visit the world’s largest free-flight aviary, which it has won a multitude of awards for sustainability and responsible tourism efforts and Monkeyland - a well-known primate sanctuary. We stop at the highest road bridge in Africa (Bloukrans @ 216m), known as one of the highest commercial bungee jumping sites in the world Breathtaking views await us at Tsitsikamma National Park en-route to ‘the friendly city’, Port Elizabeth – where we end our tour.
