Day 1. Cape Town - Knysna Highlights. Knysna, South Africa.

Today we travel east via the historic Sir Lowry’s pass, Grabouw ‘apple country’, George at the foot of the Outeniqua mountain range and the lush forests and lakes of the Wilderness National Park. We arrive in Knysna a charming town, surrounded by tranquil lakes, lush indigenous forests and golden beaches.

Day 2. Knysna and surrounds Highlights. Birds Of Eden. Tsitsikamma National Park, South Africa.

Heading out after breakfast we drive via Plettenberg Bay to the Tsitsikamma National Park, admiring the beauty of the rugged cliffs and indigenous forests that span the coastal edge. Enjoy a relaxing walk to the suspension bridge stretching over the mouth of Storms River. Passing Bloukrans Bridge, the highest road bridge in Africa at 216m and one of the highest commercial bungee jumps in the world.

We visit Birds of Eden, with over 3,500 birds from over 220 species, before heading back to Knysna on the verge of the Knysna Lagoon. Guarded by two promontories known as the ‘Heads’, the area falls within a National Park of the Garden Route proclaimed to conserve the extraordinary natural beauty of the Lakeland and adjacent indigenous forests.

Day 3. Knysna - Oudtshoorn Highlights. Cango Caves, South Africa.

After a relaxing morning, we travel via George through the lush forests of the Wilderness National Park and over the Outeniqua Mountains. Our day is spent at Oudtshoorn, known as the ‘Feather Capital’ of the world dating after the 1860’s ostrich industry boom. We visit the Cango Caves, where we’ll embark on a guided tour of the massive dripstone caverns system with their vast halls of towering stalactite and stalagmite formations.

Day 4. Oudtshoorn - Cape Town Highlights. Cape Winelands, South Africa. Oudtshoorn, Ostrich Farm, South Africa.

Today we visit some of the historical sites around town, as well as a working ostrich farm where we will view and learn about these magnificent birds. After our visit, we travel via the famous Route 62 and its scenic mountain passes, through the Huguenot Tunnel to the Cape Winelands where on a clear day, one can see Table Mountain in the distance. We end our tour in Cape Town late afternoon.
