Day 1. Pretoria to Hazyview Highlights. Blyde River Canyon, South Africa. Accommodation. Hotel Numbi.

Departing Pretoria in the early morning, we set off on our journey to Kruger National Park. Passing through South Africa's 'maize triangle' and power hub, we head on to the scenic Mpumalanga province and the picturesque Panorama Route. In the late afternoon we arrive at our camp in the small town of Hazyview, adjacent to Kruger National Park.

Day 2. Kruger National Park Highlights. Kruger National Park, South Africa. Accommodation. Hotel Numbi.

This morning we wake early and meet our local guides who will take us on our safari into the Kruger National Park. Boarding the 4x4 vehicles, we set off on a day of seeking out the Big 5 and other fantastic wildlife that resides here.

Kruger is home to over 505 species of birds, 148 species of mammals and many reptiles which we enthusiastically search for during the morning and afternoon. The impressive atmosphere of the park enables you to understand why it is held in such high esteem among wildlife lovers from all over the world. We avoid the hot midday sun and enjoy the peacefulness the rest camp has to offer. There are many facilities available such as restaurants, souvenir stores and swimming pools.

We return to our accommodation in the late afternoon, happily exhausted and highly satisfied with the day’s events.

Day 3. Kruger National Park Accommodation. Hotel Numbi.

For those who have elected to take the Adventure Pass on this tour, today offers a second opportunity to explore Kruger and head out in search of the animals that were not 'ticked off' our bucket list yesterday.

Kruger covers a vast area (the park is slightly bigger than Belgium) and offers a wide variety of biomes and habitats for wildlife. This enables visitors to enjoy a wide variety of animal and bird life and a second day provides ample opportunity to add sightings to our wildlife 'bucket list'.

Alternatively, spend the day enjoying the pool and facilities at the hotel, or head out on some local optional excursions in the surrounding area.

Day 4. Kruger to Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary, Swaziland Highlights. Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary, Swaziland (Eswatini). Accommodation. Mlilwane Camp, Swaziland (Eswatini).

We head south today making our way to the small land-locked Kingdom of Swaziland. Once border formalities are complete, we cross into Swaziland and enjoy the views of the small hamlets and open bushveld as we make our way to the Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary.

Day 5. Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary Highlights. Swaziland (Eswatini) Cultural Village, Ezulwini Valley. Accommodation. Mlilwane Camp, Swaziland (Eswatini).

Today we make our way through the sanctuary to the Royal Enclosure to learn about the history and culture of the Swazi Monarchy. A local Swazi guide walks us through a traditional village explaining many customs and rituals. After leisure time browsing street side markets and trying our hand bartering with crafters, we find our way back to the sanctuary for lunch.

The afternoon is yours to enjoy some of the amazing activities on offer. We recommend you participate in some of the many activities offered in the sanctuary such as horseback trails, game drives, mountain bike riding, and guided walks or just enjoy some rejuvenating time-out sun-bathing around the swimming pool with a good book.

There are over forty species of animals found here including exotic species such as Honey Badger, Dwarf Mongoose, Aardwolf, Striped Polecat and the more common species including Hippo, Ostrich, Kudu, Zebra and Baboon. Enjoy cool sun-downers and admiring the view overlooking the hippo pond.

Day 6. Swaziland to St Lucia, South Africa Accommodation. Monzi.

Today we leave the amazing Mlilwane Sanctuary behind and travel through the Swaziland countryside to cross the border back to South Africa.

Our accommodation for the night is in the small coastal town of St. Lucia. It's here we join a river cruise to see the hippo, crocodile and iconic fish eagle among others. St. Lucia is nestled between the Indian Ocean and a protected estuary at the southern end of the Isimangaliso Wetland.

Day 7. St. Lucia to Durban

Enjoy a morning at leisure to explore this vibrant town's shops and restaurants before boarding the Acacia vehicle for our last day's drive to Durban's northern beaches. Our tour ends on arrival at Umhlanga Ridge in the late afternoon.
