Day 1. Kampala to Queen Elizabeth National Park Highlights. Equator. Accommodation. Simba Camp, Uganda.
Departing Kampala early we drive towards the Queen Elizabeth National Park. Through the misty countryside of Uganda with picturesque lush rolling hills and the local farmlands scattered with Ugandan Ankole cattle. Along the way we'll stop off at the Equator point before heading on to our camp.Day 2. Queen Elizabeth National Park, Chimpanzee Trek Highlights. Chimpanzee Trek, Kyambura Gorge, Uganda. This morning we get our first taste of the African wilds as we head into the Kyambura Gorge in the canopied forests of the Queen Elizabeth National Park. With some luck we may some some wildlife as we travel to our trekking point.Day 3. Queen Elizabeth National Park to Lake Bunyonyi Accommodation. Lake Bunyonyi Camp.
We travel south-west into the mountains to find ourselves at the stunning hidden gem that is Lake Bunyonyi. Surrounded by green hills, local farms and scenic crater-lakes, giving it the nickname “Switzerland of Africa”. Here we will spend the afternoon at leisure, taking in the tranquil environment or partaking in optional activities on offer.Day 4. Lake Bunyonyi, Gorilla Trek Highlights. Starting early we head to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to start on our trek to seek out the endangered mountain gorilla. The local rangers assist us in making our way through the thick forest as we head further into the natural habitat of the gorilla to see them as they roam. Once a family group is spotted, we spend an hour observing them as they eat, rest or play enjoying the opportunity to see them interact with one another and the surrounding forest.Day 5. Explore the scenic Lake Bunyonyi area further by cooling off in the deep crater lake or visiting a local orphanage in the nearby village. This day is spent at leisure, with many activities and natural surroundings to keep one busy.Day 6. Lake Bunyonyi to Kampala Highlights. Equator. Kampala, Uganda. Accommodation. We retrace our steps back to the Capital city Kampala and have an evening at leisure to enjoy the bustling night life of the city.Day 7. Kampala to Jinja Accommodation. Nile River Explorer.
We continue our journey to the lush and picturesque Jinja on the banks of the Nile River where we will spend the next few nights.Day 8. Jinja Highlights. Jinja, Uganda. Accommodation. Nile River Explorer.
A day of leisure to revel in your tour thus far. Immerse yourself further into Uganda and its friendly culture by volunteering at the local School Project or up the adrenaline levels white water rafting the Nile River. Tonight enjoy the serene night sky as it reflects on the river concluding your final night on tour.Day 9. Jinja to Kampala
After a leisurely morning, we head back to Kampala arriving in the late afternoon, to end a tour that truly will leave Uganda in your heart.In Kampala’s leafy suburbs away from the hubbub of the city centre, this backpackers and campsite is set in secure rambling gardens where vervet monkeys can be spotted in the trees. Within walking distance to local shops and markets, and taxis can be arranged to take you into central Kampala. Rooms – dorms, doubles and singles with shared bathrooms, limited en suite rooms available, camping (in own tent or tents can be hired), and some cottages suitable for groups or families. Facilities – restaurant and bar, lounge with satellite TV, internet, kitchen, plunge pool. Transfers are available from the Airport by pre-arrangement
