Day 1. Kampala to Queen Elizabeth National Park Highlights. Equator. Accommodation. Simba Camp, Uganda.

Departing Kampala early we drive towards the Queen Elizabeth National Park. Through the misty countryside of Uganda with picturesque lush rolling hills and the local farmlands scattered with Ugandan Ankole cattle. Along the way we'll stop off at the Equator point before heading on to our camp.

With an abundance of birdlife, you'll no doubt get to see a number of the feathery inhabitants as we travel into the rural areas amidst the farmlands and waterways along the way.

Day 2. Queen Elizabeth National Park, Chimpanzee Trek Highlights. Chimpanzee Trek, Kyambura Gorge, Uganda. Accommodation. Simba Camp, Uganda.

This morning we get our first taste of the African wilds as we head into the Kyambura Gorge in the canopied forests of the Queen Elizabeth National Park. With some luck we may some some wildlife as we travel to our trekking point.

We head out in search for the ever playful and fascinating chimps that take sanctuary in this abundant reserve. As we walk through the forest it's important to keep your eyes looking up into the forest canopy as Chimpanzee spend most of their time within the branches of the trees.

Day 3. Queen Elizabeth National Park to Lake Bunyonyi Accommodation. Lake Bunyonyi Camp.

We travel south-west into the mountains to find ourselves at the stunning hidden gem that is Lake Bunyonyi. Surrounded by green hills, local farms and scenic crater-lakes, giving it the nickname “Switzerland of Africa”. Here we will spend the afternoon at leisure, taking in the tranquil environment or partaking in optional activities on offer.

Day 4. Lake Bunyonyi, Gorilla Trek Highlights. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda. Mountain gorillas. Accommodation. Lake Bunyonyi Camp.

Starting early we head to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest to start on our trek to seek out the endangered mountain gorilla. The local rangers assist us in making our way through the thick forest as we head further into the natural habitat of the gorilla to see them as they roam. Once a family group is spotted, we spend an hour observing them as they eat, rest or play enjoying the opportunity to see them interact with one another and the surrounding forest.

The gorilla trek may happen on day 5 depending on the permit trekking dates.

Day 5. Lake Bunyonyi, Gorilla Trek Highlights. Lake Bunyonyi, Uganda. Accommodation. Lake Bunyonyi Camp.

Explore the scenic Lake Bunyonyi area further by cooling off in the deep crater lake or visiting a local orphanage in the nearby village. This day is spent at leisure, with many activities and natural surroundings to keep one busy.
