Day 1. Kampala to Queen Elizabeth National Park Highlights. Equator.
In the early hours of this morning, we travel through the misty countryside of Uganda. Making our way amidst the lush rolling hills and the local farmlands, home to Ugandan Ankole cattle. We stop off at the Equator point and continue from here, reaching our camp near the Queen Elizabeth National Park.Day 2. Queen Elizabeth National Park, Chimpanzee Trek Highlights. Furthering our exploration into the heart of Uganda we head to the Kymabura Gorge. Here we will be briefed on our Chimp Trek before heading out into the forest to seek these intelligent primates out. We may be fortunate to see the captivating chimps descend from the canopy to display their playful nature right in our pathway or enjoy their displays high up in the tree branches overhead.Day 3. Queen Elizabeth National Park to Lake Bunyonyi Highlights. Lake Bunyonyi, Uganda.
Heading deeper into Uganda, our journey takes us to surreal Lake Bunyonyi. Named for the abundance of birds that surround the picturesque crater-lakes. Situated at the foot of the mountains, Lake Bunyonyi is a tranquil hidden gem, where you can relax or enjoy a number of activities. Paddle across the crystal cool lake or visit the local orphanage and villages.Day 4. Lake Bunyonyi, Gorilla Trek Highlights. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda. Mountain gorillas.
Heading out to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, we look forward to our much anticipated Gorilla Trek. Gathering for a briefing before trekking our groups head out into the thicket of the jungles in search of the remaining free-roaming gorillas. While the trek may take a few hours and be quite strenuous, the sight of gorillas in their natural habitat will be awe-inspiring and worth the effort.Day 5. Lake Bunyonyi Highlights. Lake Bunyonyi, Uganda.
Today is either a Gorilla Trek day or a day at leisure. Explore the banks of Lake Bunyonyi or opt for one of the many optional activities - boating, canoeing, community walks, bird watching or simply chill on the grassy banks of the lake marvelling its beauty.Day 6. Lake Bunyonyi to Kampala Highlights. Equator. Kampala, Uganda.
Leaving the scenic hills we make our way back to Kampala, the capital. Here you will experience the vibrancy of the local markets, restaurants and bars. Seeing another side of this multifaceted country.Day 7. Kampala to Jinja
Today we travel a short distance to the source of the Nile, at the town of Jinja. With many activities on offer, the camp at Jinja is located on the banks of the River Nile with breathtaking views of the river and is a popular stop on our tours. Local markets, adrenaline activities, bike tours and volunteering are just a few options on offer.Day 8. Jinja Highlights. Jinja, Uganda.
Today we have a full day to explore with optional excursions or simply enjoying the view from the poolside.Day 9. Jinja to Kampala
After a relaxing morning, we retrace our footsteps back to Kampala where our tour ends in the late afternoon.In Kampala’s leafy suburbs away from the hubbub of the city centre, this backpackers and campsite is set in secure rambling gardens where vervet monkeys can be spotted in the trees. Within walking distance to local shops and markets, and taxis can be arranged to take you into central Kampala. Rooms – dorms, doubles and singles with shared bathrooms, limited en suite rooms available, camping (in own tent or tents can be hired), and some cottages suitable for groups or families. Facilities – restaurant and bar, lounge with satellite TV, internet, kitchen, plunge pool. Transfers are available from the Airport by pre-arrangement
