Discover the highlights of the Garden Route on this 4-day east-bound tour. Mossel Bay, tranquil Wilderness Lakes, Bloukrans Bridge, lush forests of Tsitikamma National Park, Knysna ‘Heads’, Klein Karoo Cango Caves and ostrich farms. Returning back to Cape Town and the Atlantic Coast via scenic mountainous Route 62 and winelands vistas.

Day 1. Cape Town - Knysna Highlights. Knysna, South Africa.

Today we travel east via the historic Sir Lowry’s pass, Grabouw ‘apple country’, George at the foot of the Outeniqua mountain range and the lush forests and lakes of the Wilderness National Park. We arrive in Knysna a charming town, surrounded by tranquil lakes, lush indigenous forests and golden beaches.

Day 2. Knysna and surrounds Highlights. Birds Of Eden. Monkeyland. Tsitsikamma National Park, South Africa.

After breakfast, we visit Monkeyland and the Birds of Eden. We via the highest road bridge in Africa (Bloukrans Bridge @ 216m), known as one of the highest bungee jump sites in the world. Continuing on to Tsitsikamma National Park, we have an opportunity to walk a suspended bridge at the Storm’s River mouth, which makes for the spectacular forest, cliff and ocean views. Our last stop en-route back to Knysna we visit the ‘Big Tree’ (an eight-hundred-year-old Yellowwood standing 36 m tall).

Day 3. Knysna - Oudtshoorn Highlights. Cango Caves, South Africa.

After a relaxing morning, we travel via George through the lush forests of the Wilderness National Park and over the Outeniqua Mountains. Our day is spent at Oudtshoorn, known as the ‘Feather Capital’ of the world dating after the 1860’s ostrich industry boom. We visit the Cango Caves, where we’ll embark on a guided tour of the massive dripstone caverns system with their vast halls of towering stalactite and stalagmite formations.

Day 4. Oudtshoorn - Cape Town Highlights. Cape Winelands, South Africa. Oudtshoorn, Ostrich Farm, South Africa.

Today we visit some of the historical sites around town, as well as a working ostrich farm where we will view and learn about these magnificent birds. After our visit, we travel via the famous Route 62 and its scenic mountain passes, through the Huguenot Tunnel to the Cape Winelands where on a clear day, one can see Table Mountain in the distance. We end our tour in Cape Town late afternoon.
