From Zanzibar we move into Malawi! One of the friendliest countries we travel through with plenty of interaction with the locals who want to meet you and talk and show you their culture. Here we have 4 or 5 nights to relax and as well as a beautiful beach on one of Africa’s largest lakes, we have great activities such as diving, snorkelling and village walks. We also know that we will meet other overland trucks and our northbound Acacia friends; our second campsite is usually the hub of activity and fun as we do our famous punch night and enjoy a nice roast pig or the local special a roast goat. Lots of fun is had, fancy dress comes in all shapes and sizes, second hand clothes from the market, theme nights, and on occasion a bin bag fancy dress! The latter is definately my favourite because despite the initial horror of wearing a bin bag in public you find that people’s imagination kicks in and you get some amazing costumes….my last was a carrot….yes folks, orange bin bags with a green hat 🙂 Once Malawi is done we head south to Livingstone where we have four days to enjoy activities such as rafting, elephant walks and of course Victoria Falls!
Livingstone is the place to relax and do some of the adrenaline activities; the white water rafting on the Zambezi is always a favourite and for the more daring of us the Bunjee jump off the bridge at 111m! In addition to this we have clients enjoy the walking with lions and the elephant back ride. All this is done from our beautiful campsite right on the waterfront where we enjoy dinners and beautiful sunsets. This is also the end of the tour for some and the beginning of the tour for others so it is a great place to mix with other overland clients and share stories!
