After several years of mismatched holidays, money issues and long-haul travel constraints; our four strong group of friends met on past living/traveling overseas times, were finally reunited over delicious wine and jet lag in Cape Town. Armed with sun lotion, a South Africa road map and the world’s smallest silver hire car we compacted ourselves and our entire luggage into the Cheverlot spark and headed in search of sand, sunshine, seafood, surf, and the perfect braai.

Just outside of the City of Cape Town we were distracted from the quest by Gordon’s Bay: a chilled Cape Town suburb offering a little well missed luxury, stunning views of the city, a glimpse of the odd migrating whale and thanks to a friend of a friend, stunningly beautiful accommodation.
Not far up the coast nestles Betty’s Bay; a tiny windswept village who not only caters for chilled beach holidays but has also taken in a huge colony of chattering penguins. `The dramatic coastline sweeps beyond the bay and stunning cliff top views entertained us all the way back up the N2 which eventually lured us into Wilderness. Here we spent 2 nights getting back to Mother Nature and chilling up at the Wild Farm where we were offered warm hospitality, outrageous vistas, free pick of their organic veggie patch and some live entertainment.

The rugged coast is dotted with small villages all one being Plettenburg bay which was our next destination, along the way we found Knysna nestled between the heads we were spoilt with more stunning views and yummy lunch off cheese and carrot cake and a delicious coffee. In Plettenburg we explored the stunning peninsular on foot, stopping of at the secluded beaches too cold to swim but very inviting all the same, we sat and watching the seals surf the waves and enjoy some sun baking on the rocks. Whale watching is a famous past time here we weren’t lucky enough to spot any but that wasn’t for lack of trying.
Jefferies Bay is a famous surf hub its coast line sprawled with a stunning beach with crashing waves which could be heard at night from our room just back from the beach. The main street has an abundance of surf shops and cafes; our credit cards got a beating in the Billabong outlet Christmas shopping and of curse a new bikini or 2 each for the beach.

On our way back to Cape Town Tsitsikamma was calling us offering some adventure activities biggest bridge bungi in the world, zip lining through the trees, bush walking and many many more. Back to where we started beautiful Cape Town where we joined the tourists on the site seeing bus tour which took us to all the ‘must see’ tourist destinations of the city. The bus took us along the stunning coast line to Camps Bay where we joined the rich and famous of Cape Town for some lunch and a pina colada.
