VoiceMap is a free smartphone app that uses your phone’s GPS to create a map and a route to walk, with a voice narrating as you go, reports IOL. Currently, there are several options available in Cape Town, including the Company’s Garden and Green Point Park, and the design district and street art in the East City, but you can expect new routes to be added in the future. Some are free to download, while others carry a small charge, and the app is backed up by a comprehensive website where you can, read about the walks and listen to the audio and more. Each walking route will let you know the distance covered and the estimated time it will take for you to complete your journey at a brisk walking pace. Want to explore the Mother City’s different areas and attractions at leisure? Simply pause and resume the commentary at any point. The app is available on Android and iPhone app stores.
