So as we move with the new group into Botswana we begin our fun filled and busy 19 days all the way down to Cape Town. This is one of my favourite trips as we travel into Southern Africa, a very different experience from East Africa; in these 19 days we will be game driving in Chobe NP and Etosha NP, entering the Okavango Delta, seeing the local bushmen in both Botswana and Namibia, climbing sand dunes and relaxing in Swakopmund trying out a few of the adrenaline activities on offer.

First stop was Chobe, Elephant central! The group sees the Chobe river at sunset and game drives early morning in search of their favourite animals. The Okavango Delta is something truly special, we meet our Polers early in the morning ready for a nice relaxing ride in the Mokoros before making a bush camp on one of the many remote islands in the Delta. Guided game walks and swimming are among the activities that the group undertook whilst in the Delta, and in the evening we’re joined by our fellow Small Groups Acacia friends for a night of local singing and dancing with the Polers.

A bushman walk in Ghanzi was our last stop in Botswana, the group went out for the village walk to learn how the locals live, and try their hand at the local ‘click’ language. Namibia was our next stop, my favourite country out of the them all. After a night in the capital Windhoek, we made our way to Etosha NP where we camp for two nights; our campsite has a beautiful floodlit waterhole, the ideal opportunity to see the animals by night. The waterhole certainly delivered, 7 Rhino drinking both evenings! Rhino’s are an endangered species so we’re lucky to see one, let alone 7 in one night; other visitors the the waterhole included Elephants, Giraffes, Springbok and Jackals. After 2 nights and plenty of game driving time we were ready to move to Spitzkoppe and our bush camp; a prehistoric rock formation promises amazing views for sunset and a stunning sky filled with stars and the Milky Way!
