When you travel to Africa, and indeed anywhere else in the world, the photos you take capture the adrenaline rush of seeing your destination through the lens of a one-time tourist; a typical example for me is taking your first pictures of a lion or a leopard in the wild. These are photos that will bring back the memories of your dream fulfilling trip and record that moment in history for you to tell loved ones now and reminisce in the future. When you find yourself staying in the place that you hold such passion for, in my case Africa, you repeatedly see the things you once took that ‘first’ photo of and you begin to notice the depth behind what you are looking at. The excitement then comes from capturing these moments with a different perspective and creating expression and art…..I am still early on in my adventure in Africa, but I am certainly enjoying learning this new adrenaline rush…..
To visitors and passengers on my trucks I always try and help them to see the bigger picture when capturing their favourite Africa moments; yes, get that photo of the Lion or that beautiful sunset, but take a few with a different perspective. You don’t have to have a singing and dancing SLR camera to capture the background and the beauty surrounding these moments, I am no expert, but through learning to see these things I love to help my guys and gals take the best back home with them.
