My name is Erin and I’m Adventure Philanthropist. I’m writing a book about my recent 2-year around-the-world trip. During this adventure, I visited all 7 continents and 62 countries, including spending nearly five months in Africa. I traveled solo and mostly overland, taking local buses and boats.
At the heart of my travels was my volunteer work. By volunteering with more than 20 local humanitarian organizations, I gained an inside perspective on how people truly live, getting to know cultures and communities on a much deeper level.
Volunteering also helped me get off the beaten path and venture to small towns on the borders of Kenya & Uganda and Zambia & Malawi. In short, volunteering gives me a more authentic travel experience, bringing to light the full spectrum of beauty and harshness within our world. Global volunteering delivers moments that are both raw and rewarding.
Volunteering in Africa
During my global 2-year “living and giving” adventure, I volunteered with many organizations based in sub-Saharan Africa including the Lion Encounter, as part of my 19-day Desert Tracker tour.

● Lion Encounter – Livingstone, Zambia: During my time I learned all about large cat conservation by doing a snare sweep with national park rangers and participating in lion pride research.
