Top Tips For Virgin Overlanders!

If you’ve never travelled overland before you might be wondering what to expect, so we’ve prepared a list of handy tips for those who are new to hitting the open road in Africa!

1. Overlanding is a real team effort, everyone lending a hand along the way. If you haven’t put up or tent before don’t worry, as by the end of the trip you’ll be an expert – and at times we even have a prize for the fastest pitcher out on tour! We also cook up some tasty local delicacies en route so prepare to tantalise those taste buds and amaze your friends back home with your new found culinary skills. Either way, whether you’re dishing up grub, cleaning the truck or setting the table for a knock out feast we can promise you this journey will be up there with the best.

2. Safaris start early in Africa as we want to be in the heart of the bush when the animals are at their most active.  A five am wake up call is nothing new and if you’re not a morning person it’s always handy to have a ready made kit bag – preferably one you can reach for with your eyes shut. Think ahead as the temperature will be on the up when we return – lots of layers, sunscreen, a hat and your sunnies offering much needed protection from the rays.

3. Don’t worry if you’re travelling solo. Our overland tours are no single supplement and there will undoubtedly be more singles in the group, and from all corners of the globe.  From pitching in on everyday tasks to enjoying Africa together expect endless opportunities to break the ice and meet new travelling buddies on the road.

4. Campsites can vary depending on the country and the parks we are visiting.  Some will have everything you will ever need and more, including a pool and bar, while others in more remote unfenced wilderness sites might be on the basic end. Baby wipes are often a life saver along with some talcum powder so you’re always feeling refreshed.

5.
