we cover a variety of palm-fringed locations

But where to live your best beach life?
1) Zanzibar
It’s a tried and tested sand-swept escape, but Zanzibar’s chilled ambiance never goes out of fashion – whether you’re strolling down the winding alleys of Stone Town or dipping your toes in the ocean on its northern beaches. From its dark slave trade past to its modern-day markets and aromatic spice gardens – this is a destination to be savoured. All the more reason to enjoy a four-night stay on our 11-day Highlights of Tanzania camping or accommodated overland tours.
2) Mozambique
Mozambique is slowly working its way onto those travel hot-lists, so now is the time to flipper up and explore its southern coastline. Tofo has plenty of backpacker appeal, this manta ray dive haven described as “the next Goa.” While laidback Vilanculos (the gateway to Mozambique’s spectacular Bazaruto archipelago) is now recognized globally as a hot-spot for shark and ray diversity. Dive in on our 14-day Mozambique and Zimbabwe northbound and southbound camping overland tours.
3) Cape Town
From Blue Flag beaches to surfers corner (legend has it that an Aussie showed locals how to ride the waves), Cape Town has some pretty impressive beaches. Kitesurfers should head for Sunrise Beach where they can take advantage of the strong southeasterly winds, while the calm, flat, clear waters of Windmill Beach appeal to families. One of the best places to flipper up, Miller’s Point is a marine protected area that was almost made to order for scuba divers. Looking to celebrate a special occasion? Try the South African version of Malibu, Camps Bay bang on trend for lovers of luxury, and complete with fabulous restaurants and mountain views.
4) Durban
Durban has its own Golden Mile, and nicknamed Surf City, this is a great place to learn and enjoy the sport. The up and coming metropolis is a new 2019 feature on our 47-day Kenya to South Africa and three-day Durban City stay – Durban’s Bay of Plenty known as the constant surf spot, and offering both right and left-hand waves.
SEA YOU THERE!
