Adventure is partaking in something new and eye-opening. We’ve got this covered by meeting the authentic Maasai of Kenya and Tanzania. Learn to speak Swahili, participate in their signature Maasai adamu aka jumping dance. A rite of passage, to welcome youngsters to the next stage of their lives – much like choosing an Acacia adventure tour.
Acacia tours are interactive and immersive not only with the Maasai but the many local tribes across East and Southern Africa.
- village tours
- sing and dance traditions
- survival systems & customs
- environment symbiosis & sustainability

Walk This Way
The benefits of exploring by foot far outweigh the effort. If you’re not an avid hiker, that’s okay. Acacia on-foot excursions are more fun than strenuous (unless you up the speed, trail runners out there?) There is a level of respectful conservation to these walks, especially at Khama Rhino Sanctuary, guided by rangers in Botswana.
If you would like to learn more about all the walking opportunities while on tour with Acacia then get active and enquire here.
Trek with Gorillas before it’s too late
Adventure awaits deep in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in Uganda. There lives 19 families of endangered Mountain Gorilla’s. Every traveller that embarks on this enchanting experience is directly contributing to the conservation of these mammals.
“From crossing the equator and getting to see the forests in the distance the excitement and anticipation was building. But nothing compares to the real thing, watching gorillas and chimpanzees in their natural habitats is one of those moments in life I will never forget.”
Paul went on our Gorilla Encounter (14 Days)
Get intense and overboard excited
The ULTIMATE adventure: white river rafting. Explore the Mighty Zambezi river which separates Zambia and Zimbabwe or the very source of The Nile river in Uganda. With Grade 5 rapids and tranquil cruisin’ breaks in between – this activity is well worth getting a little wet.
No prior experience needed, if you want an in depth account here is an Acacia Explorer story.
Uplift on an Outreach – orphanages, schools, communities
Not all adventures are adrenaline based. Some are cultivated from reaching out a hand, giving back and growing from a humanitarian perspective.
Acacia Africa strive to enrich our clients by local community involvement.
We firmly believe in travelling responsibly, and encourage our clients to do the same. By minimizing the impact on the wildlife and environment at the destinations we travel to. Acacia also has close ties with a number of African charities.
As an African tour company it is our responsibility to ensure the quest for adventure is also that of sharing happy hearts, smiles and joy; improving quality of life for all.
Get your steps in, summit Dune 45
There is no doubt why this adventure is an iconic fan favourite. The images captured are breath-taking. Dune 45 is a bit of a feat to climb, especially as Acacia aim to summit for the early morning sun. Once you’re up though, the views expand the red dessert and the highest dunes in the world. All taking place within the Namib-Nauklift area of Namibia.
Take the bungee leap, bounce back stronger
Would you do it? Until you step into the unknown, you don’t know what you are made of. We’re saying unlock the code, level up and unleash your full potential for adventure. Bungee jumping is synonymous with adrenaline – do you dare to experience the Victoria Falls from a different angle?
Explore under the sea, under the sea, darling it’s better, down where it’s wetter…
… just sayin’ the NEW Little Mermaid may have inspired this title. Africa has many secrets but the best kept one is its exquisite marine life. From massive inland lakes (Lake Malawi) to the pristine coastal beaches of Zanzibar and Mozambique.
Acacia will let you in on the secret don’t worry. There is a perfect mix of tropical livin’ and underwater adventures to be included in your trip to Africa.
Instead of simply saying “I like hiking” on your tinder profile, rather be a legit hiker and tackle the peak of adventure, Kilimanjaro. It’s a daunting commitment but Acacia have the steps to make it a reality. The view from summiting Kilimanjaro is one that puts it all into perspective; life and your highest potential.
Heard of the African Gondola? Enter: The Mokoro
Excuse the third picture from the left below. It’s Africa’s sense of humour.
Moving on swiftly… a Mokoro is in essence a canoe but with a local African twist. On Acacia tours:
- Transit by mokoro on our Okavango Delta Excursion – cruise through the intricate inland delta channels in Botswana.
- Lay witness to the Lake of Stars (Lake Malawi, where our comedians below are pictured) with the many lined up fishing mokoro’s – local way of life.
- Commandeer your own mokoro at Lake Bunyonyi in Uganda. There is a certain level of skill needed but mostly a sense of humour.
Be Present and Curious – try new things
Add spice to your life. Do so in Zanzibar on the flavoursome spice tour. Or the bustling night fish market; with rows of tables offering the freshest fish served in a variety of ways (veggie options too!) Another winner is the local chipati dish, found in Uganda! It’s like a pancake/pita/wrap only much much better.
On Acacia tours the adventure extends from bush bbq’s/braai’s. To the many authentic cuisines experienced at each place visited. You may even try the locally brewed beer as you tour through, cheers for a Kenyan Tusker!
Make lifelong genuine friends across the borders
Adventure is pretty sweet when shared. Whether that is experiencing the moment with your buddy or regaling the memories. Acacia is group travel so we’ve got #squadgoals in mind. You’ll create friendships, jokes and a support family with your fellow travelers, the Acacia Crew. But also the people along the way! With technology these days, staying in touch with a friend in the heart of Kenya is totally possible.
