Day 1. Kampala - Chimpanzee Trekking Area Highlights. Equator.

With an early departure from Kampala we drive through the misty countryside of Uganda with picturesque lush rolling hills and the local farmlands scattered with Ugandan Ankole cattle. Along the way we'll stop off at the Equator point before heading on to our camp.

Bicycles are the main form of transport in most towns, but you'll also see many 'boda-boda' motorbike taxis flitting around as you leave the city. Uganda is also known as a 'green' country which you'll notice driving into the rural areas by the abundant greenery and lush fertile scenery along the way.

Day 2. Kalinzu Forest or Kyambura Gorge Highlights. Chimpanzee Trek, Kalinzu Forest, Uganda.

This morning we head out in search for the ever playful and fascinating chimps that take sanctuary in this abundant reserve. Here we will be briefed on our Chimp Trek before heading out into the forest to seek these intelligent primates out. We may be fortunate to see the captivating chimps descend from the canopy to display their playful nature right in our pathway or enjoy their displays high up in the tree branches overhead.

Day 3. Chimpanzee Trekking Area - Lake Bunyonyi Highlights. Lake Bunyonyi, Uganda.

Heading deeper into Uganda, our journey takes us to surreal Lake Bunyonyi. Named for the abundance of birds that surround the picturesque crater-lakes. Situated at the foot of the mountains, Lake Bunyonyi is a tranquil hidden gem, where you can relax or enjoy a number of activities. Paddle across the crystal cool lake or visit the local orphanage and villages.

Day 4. Lake Bunyonyi or Gorilla Trekking Highlights. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, Uganda. Mountain gorillas.

Heading out to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, we look forward to our much anticipated Gorilla Trek. Gathering for a briefing before trekking our groups head out into the thicket of the jungles in search of the remaining free-roaming gorillas. While the trek may take a few hours and be quite strenuous, the sight of gorillas in their natural habitat will be awe-inspiring and worth the effort.

Larger travel groups will be divided into smaller trekking groups over the next days, so trekking may take place either on day 4 or 5 of the tour.

Day 5. Lake Bunyonyi or Gorilla Trekking Highlights. Lake Bunyonyi, Uganda.

Today is either a Gorilla Trek day or a day at leisure. Explore the banks of Lake Bunyonyi or opt for one of the many optional activities - boating, canoeing, community walks, bird watching or simply chill on the grassy banks of the lake marvelling its beauty.

Day 6. Lake Bunyonyi to Kampala Highlights. Equator. Kampala, Uganda.

From Lake Bunyonyi we make our way back across the Equator (stopping for a photo if we have not done so previously) through lush pasture lands and the northern reaches of Lake Victoria (Africa’s largest lake) to Kampala where we will overnight.

Kampala is a hotspot for great food and entertainment. If time allows, go out to enjoy the nightlife, try the local cuisines and enjoy the hospitality and friendliness of the local Ugandans.

Day 7. Kampala to Jinja

Today we travel a short distance to the source of the Nile, at the town of Jinja. With many activities on offer, the camp at Jinja is located on the banks of the River Nile with breathtaking views of the river and is a popular stop on our tours. Local markets, adrenaline activities, bike tours and volunteering are just a few options on offer.

Day 8. Jinja Highlights. Jinja, Uganda.

Today we have a full day to explore with optional excursions or simply enjoying the view from the poolside.

Try white water rafting the Nile with its superb grade 5 rapids, or head to the local Softpower project to volunteer for the day. There are also bike rides, village walks and many other activities to enjoy during your stay at Jinja.

Day 9. Jinja to Kampala

Our tour ends after breakfast. Your tour leader will arrange a shuttle / taxi to take you back to Kampala.
